Status Report November 2023

At the meeting of the international coordinators, the concept and plans of the organising committee for Euromeeting 2024 were presented to this board. The response was extremely positive, and the prices for participants were acknowledged in the knowledge that prices in Switzerland are very high by international standards and that the current exchange rate of the Swiss franc against the other European currencies is driving the price up even further.

Our rough concept is now in the bag and we can continue working on it. For the detailed planning phase, we have organised the project into various subject areas or departments and looked for the corresponding owners. We are delighted to see that our appeal in the last magazine and a number of individual discussions have borne fruit. We are able to entrust these challenging tasks to highly qualified club members.

And this is the composition of the project team:
Site management Brunnen: Thomas Müller, Ruth Calonder
Site management Tiefencastel: Olivier Borgeaud
Site management Lugano: Patrick Stauffer
Site management Andermatt: Sam Wyler
Reception Euromeeting: Peter Doerr
Traffic / Parking Brunnen: Christoph Meyer
Technical / Breakdown service: Gabriel Turke
Medical services / first aid: Markus Schaub
Photo / Video: still open
Entertainment programme: still open
Registration / Administration: Daniela Borgeaud
Roadbook team / Print: Urs Mani, Heinz Hess
Finances / Sponsoring: Tyron Vogt, Patrick Stauffer
Shop: Gibi Giacon

The existing project management team will of course remain on board in the same functions:
Projectmanagement: Heinz Hess
Project Sponsor: Olivier Borgeaud
Senior Supplier: Patrick Stauffer
Senior User: Sam Wyler

For those who are not so familiar with modern project terminology:
Project management: This is the project manager and the person who is to blame if things don’t work out.
Project Sponsor: This is the client’s representative and therefore the person who communicates our ideas to the coordinators and takes their orders.
Senior Supplier: This is the person who keeps an eye on the budget and guards the cash register.
Senior User: This is the person who procures the resources and has the contractual partners (in our case, for example, the hotels and pubs) under control.

The kick-off with the extended project team will take place in January 2024. From this kick-off, the project team will meet regularly for detailed planning.

We will be happy to inform you about the progress of the project in an appropriate form.

Status Report August 2023

The first milestone of the project has been reached. The documents required for the meeting of the international coordinators have been prepared and handed out to the participants. They will review the concept at their annual meeting in autumn and make recommendations if necessary.

In the meantime, the project team will not rest on its laurels, but will press ahead with further tasks according to the project plan.

The conceptual work has been completed, the route and the stage locations have been fixed, almost all hotels and restaurants have been booked, the budget has been set and a selection of attractions has been defined. Now the phase of detailed planning and implementation begins. And as usual with all projects, this is the phase of back-breaking work that demands the most human resources.

You guess right, now comes the call: The detailed planning and preparatory work and then, above all, the organisation during the European TR Meeting 2024 needs the cooperation of numerous helpers.

The preparation of detailed route plans and roadbooks, start and finish organisation, marshals, car park service, traffic service, jalonisation, samaritan posts, administrative tasks and many other tasks await us.

In addition, there is a particularly urgent task: we are looking for sponsors and advertisers for the printed matter or give-aways to be handed out to the participants, etc. We are convinced that we can offer many companies an attractive advertising platform with our event. We are convinced that we can offer many companies with a connection to classic cars an attractive advertising platform with our event. If you know of a suitable company in your area or even have a direct connection to one in your personal or professional environment, please contact me directly.

We thank you in advance for your valuable help and support and will keep you informed about the progress of the project through the usual channels.

Heinz
